J. LIN HOUSE
eatonville, etobicoke
This Eatonville home needed a full refresh at the front entrance. The original flagstone step facing was crumbling, and the retaining wall supporting the front yard had begun to shift. Before starting any construction, we created a full 3D render so the homeowners could see the new steps, landing pad, and landscaping layout. Once they approved the design, we installed six new Banas Antique Black limestone steps, added a Beacon Hill Flagstone landing pad with a Blu 60 border, refreshed the landscaping, and rebuilt the failing retaining wall.
Before and Goals
Before we started, the front steps were deteriorating and no longer safe or attractive. The retaining wall along the front yard had also begun to lean and break apart. The grass on both sides of the walkway was dying and patchy, which made the entrance feel tired.
The homeowners wanted:
A clean, modern entrance
Strong, durable steps that would last
A small landing pad for easier access
Low‑maintenance landscaping
A refreshed look that matched the home
What We Built
This project included:
Removal of the old crumbling flagstone step facing
Installation of six new Banas Antique Black limestone rock‑faced steps
New landing pad built with Techo‑Bloc Beacon Hill Flagstone in Fossil
Border installed using Techo‑Bloc Blu 60 Smooth in Onyx Black
Removal of dying grass on both sides of the entrance
Installation of granite riverstone for a clean, low‑maintenance finish
Re‑leveling, restructuring, and reinstalling the existing retaining wall (likely Unilock Pisa2)
Materials Used
We used high‑quality natural stone and modern pavers to create a clean, long‑lasting entrance.
Banas Antique Black limestone rock‑faced steps
Techo‑Bloc Beacon Hill Flagstone in Fossil (landing pad)
Techo‑Bloc Blu 60 Smooth in Onyx Black (border)
Granite riverstone for both sides of the walkway
Reused and rebuilt Unilock Pisa2 retaining wall blocks
How We Built It
We began by removing the old flagstone facing and dismantling the failing retaining wall. The wall was rebuilt and re‑leveled to create a stable foundation for the new steps. Six Banas Antique Black limestone steps were installed, each with a natural rock‑faced front for a clean but textured look. A small landing pad was added using Beacon Hill Flagstone in Fossil, framed with Blu 60 Smooth in Onyx Black for contrast. To finish the entrance, we removed the dying grass on both sides and replaced it with granite riverstone, creating a simple, low‑maintenance landscape that complements the stonework.
Final Result
The entrance now feels solid, modern, and welcoming. The new limestone steps add weight and presence, the landing pad ties everything together, and the granite riverstone creates a clean, polished look with no maintenance. The rebuilt retaining wall ensures the front yard is stable and safe for years to come. It is a complete transformation that brought new life to the front of the home.
